In our building at Radesingel 6, in addition to General Practice Radesingel, a physiotherapist, psychologist, dietician, a dispensing point for the pharmacy, and more.

General Practice Radesingel employs several male and female general practitioners. If you prefer a specific GP, please indicate this when scheduling the appointment. We strive to ensure that you can go to the same GP as much as possible.

We offer primary care to the whole city of Groningen, but for home visits it’s recommended to only register with us if you live not too far from the GP office.

Especially in case of emergency, it’s not desirable to live more than 15 minutes away.

We offer primary care as well as small surgical procedures, placing IUDs and contraceptive implants (Implanon).

Our doctor’s assistants also offer daily consultation hours for injections (such as vitamin B12), warts removal, ear syringing, etc.

We also offer health inspections to get approval for your driver’s license.
Exercise Consultation Hour
When coping with sports injuries, some patients go see a physical therapist and some make an appointment with their general practitioners. We think both caregivers can be very valuable, which is why we believe in collaborating.

We created a ‘Exercise Consultation Hour’ on every other Friday afternoon, especially for patients with sports injuries. A general practitioner as well as a physical therapist will check your injury and if necessary we’ll make an ultrasound.

This consulting hour is part of your GP care, therefore there’s no additional insurance with coverage of physiotherapy required.
Mental health issues?
Our certified psychologist has a lot of knowledge and experience with mental health care.

Here you can turn to for:
- Clarifying problems
- Educating about symptoms, causes and possible solutions
- Advise about treatments or to get a reference
- Short term treatments
- Aftercare after a mental health care treatment (GGZ)

For consultations at the POH-GGZ, the costs are not reimbursed by the basic insurance. Your deductible is not addressed because the care falls under general practitioner care.
Long term care
Our GP nurse is specialized in chronic diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, long conditions (COPD and asthma), elderly care and people who want to quit smoking.

Here you can turn to for:
- Eductation about the clinical picture
- Consultation for medicine use
- Recurrent check-ups

The consultations are also about lifestyle.
Our GP nurse also helps patients how to cope with symptoms, treatments, certain lifestyle changes and social effects that may come with having a chronic disease.

Dr. T. Verbeek van Buuren

My name is Tjitte Verbeek van Buuren. I'm a general practitioner and practice owner of Huisartsenpraktijk Radesingel. I have been a practice owner since June 2018.

My main focus is running our practice, but I'm also available for consultation hours – usually on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

In addition, as a medical examiner, I perform (driving license) examinations for the CBR, among others. I do this for patients from our own practice and beyond.

As my first name may have suggested to you, I am of Frisian descent. I was born in the small village of Warns and raised in Wommels. After finishing the gymnasium in Sneek, I moved to Groningen to study Medicine. During my studies I was very involved in education: besides attending lectures, I taught younger students. In addition, I obtained my PhD on research into the effects of psychological stress during pregnancy on the child. Teaching, research and innovation are still things I like to do next to the general practitioner profession.

In addition to my work in our general practice, I work as a post-doc researcher at the University Medical Center Groningen and I am involved in healthcare innovations.

I got married in 2016 with my wife Lianne, who is also a GP. Together we have a son and a daughter.

Mw.Drs. L.J. Verbeek van Buuren​

Doctor L.J. (Lianne) Verbeek van Buuren is, besides husband of practice owner Tjitte, general practitioner in Meerstad.

She was born and raised in Utrecht. She studied Biomedical Sciences (University of Amsterdam) and Medicine (Rijksuniversity Groningen), after which she gained valuable experience as a doctor in the Emergency Department (Scheper Hospital Emmen) and Intensive Care (Martini Hospital Groningen).

During her specialization as a general practitioner (University Medical Center Groningen) she worked in general practices in Garyp and Dokkum and worked in psychiatry (Lentis) and rehabilitation (Beatrixoord).

As a general practitioner, she worked in various practices in Stad and Ommeland and at the general practitioner emergency service (DDG). From 2021 she will work as a general practitioner in Meerstad. Lianne is married to Tjitte Verbeek van Buuren, also a general practitioner. Together they have two children and they live in the city of Groningen, near Meerstad.

In her free time she enjoys movies, running and being out with the kids. During the winter Lianne likes to ski and when it's summertime, she likes to swim.

Mw.Drs. R. van Berkel

General practitioner

Doctor Van Berkel works at Radesingel on Mondays and at general practice Meerstad on Wednesdays and Thursdays. She also supports the practice on Radesingel through her digital consultation hours. She studied medicine in Groningen and then worked as a medical doctor in pediatrics in Deventer and in emergency care in Suriname. To complete her specialization as a general practitioner, she returned to Groningen, where she still lives with great pleasure.

In her spare time she likes to do sports outside (rowing, cycling). You can also meet her during a (lunch) walk along the Woldmeer near Meerstad.

Doctor Bouwknegt works on the Radesingel on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Doctor Bouwknegt has been living in Haren for 3 years and in addition to being a general practitioner, she is the mother of Mees. She likes to travel and can often be found on the hockey fields, on her racing bike or on the terrace.

She studied medicine in Groningen and also did part of her internships in Germany. After graduating, she started working as a medical doctor in the emergency department and in a nursing home in Winschoten. 
Doctor Dibbern is also mother of two beautiful daughters and in her free time she enjoys outdoor activities, sewing and sports.

Drs. M. Ekkel

General practitioner

Doctor Ekkel works at General Practice Radesingel on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Doctor Ekkel studied medicine in Groningen, after which he worked as a medical assistant for a year in cardiology and pulmonary medicine at the Martini hospital. After this he trained as a general practitioner, where he gained work experience in the emergency department and in various general practices in Groningen and Friesland.

He likes to spend his free time on a road bike or running in the Groningen area.

Kinderarts

Dokter Broens-Gerritsen is kinderarts en werkt op de dinsdagen aan de Radesingel.

Kinderen zijn fascinerend! Ze uiten zich bij ziekte vaak heel primair. Zijn ze ziek dan laten ze dit meestal duidelijk zien. Voelen ze zich weer iets beter, dan komen ze je op de gang van de afdeling spelend tegemoet. De grote variatie in leeftijd, ontwikkeling en aandoeningen is iets wat mij aantrekt in kindergeneeskunde. Het ene moment mag ik ouders hun kersverse baby overhandigen, het andere moment behandel ik een puber na een val op het hoofd en daarna weer een kind met chronische pijnklachten. Deze diversiteit maakt het vak uitdagend en maakt dat ik het met veel plezier doe.

Mijn opleiding tot kinderarts heb ik gevolgd in het UMC Groningen met daarnaast een deel in het Isala in Zwolle en het Martini Ziekenhuis in Groningen. Na het afronden van mijn specialisatie tot kinderarts heb ik een half jaar bij de kinderallergologie van het UMC Groningen gewerkt. Daar heb ik mij verder verdiept in de kinderallergologie en kinderlongziekten en heb ik kinderen behandeld met diverse allergieën en aanverwante aandoeningen zoals eczeem, chronische urticaria (netelroos) en astma.

Sinds 2022 ben ik werkzaam als algemeen kinderarts in het Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis in Assen. Als kinderarts behandel ik daar een breed scala aan aandoeningen die op de zuigelingen- en kinderleeftijd voorkomen. Als aandachtsgebied heb ik de kinderallergologie en kinderlongziekten.

Sinds januari 2024 ben ik als kinderarts betrokken bij huisartsenpraktijk Radesingel waar ik in samenwerking met het UMCG de follow-up verzorg voor zuigelingen en kinderen met ernstige obstipatieklachten. Naast de follow-up van deze patiënten zal ik op de Radesingel ook kinderen zien die door de eigen huisarts worden verwezen voor andere klachten waarbij de beoordeling van een kinderarts gewenst is, maar dit niet per se in een ziekenhuisomgeving hoeft te gebeuren.

 

Edith Velthuijsen

Reumatoloog

Na de studie Fysiotherapie aan de Jan van Essen Academie in Amsterdam heeft dr Velthuijsen Geneeskunde gestudeerd aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Tijdens de studie is zij voor keuzeprojecten in Botswana geweest (1985 TBC kliniek) en in Venda, Zuid-Afrika (1987 kinderkliniek) en voor keuze co-schappen Interne Geneeskunde is zij in het Royal Perth Hospital Australië geweest en in het Universitair ZH Gent, dit waren onvergetelijke ervaringen.

Voor de opleiding Interne Geneeskunde en Reumatologie kwam dr Velthuijsen naar Groningen en is zij nadien gebleven. Zij werkt met veel plezier in het WZA Assen en voor Treant.

In 2005 is dr Velthuijsen als reumatoloog begonnen met een spreekuur bij de huisarts, dit was de dinsdagavond bij Bert Steendam op Schiermonnikoog. Patiënten konden dit spreekuur zeer waarderen. In 2021 is zij elke woensdag bij een huisartsenpraktijk geweest in Assen, en in 2022 als pilot een dinsdag en donderdag (dagdeel) bij huisartsenpraktijken in Beilen, Hoogeveen. Vanaf januari 2024 op de donderdagmiddag ook in Gezondheidscentrum Groningen bij Huisartsenpraktijk Radesingel.

Voor veel zorgvragen aan de 2e lijn kan het specialistische antwoord ook worden gegeven in de 1e lijn: dit scheelt de patiënt zijn eigen risico, dit scheelt de zorgverzekeraar kosten en dit draagt bij aan de versterking samenwerking 1e en 2e lijn. In Limburg is veel ervaring met de zogenaamde specialistische stadspolikliniek, slechts 20% van de consulten resulteert uiteindelijk in een verwijzing naar de 2e lijn. Met dit ideaal komt dr Velthuijsen graag de huisartsen praktijk versterken.

Patiënten met klachten aan het houdings- en bewegingsapparaat kunnen worden gezien, met de vraag fibromyalgie (chronische tendomyogene pijn) tot de vraag wel of geen artritis, van handklachten tot advies behandeling jicht, ook voor een injectie in een gewricht of een de buigpezen (bij trigger fingers).

Carmen Verstraaten is woonachtig in Groningen vanaf haar 18e. Met inmiddels meer dan 35 jaar ervaring in allerlei takken van de psychiatrie werkt zij daarnaast ook al een aantal jaren met veel enthousiasme als POH-ggz.

In haar vrije tijd is zij graag buiten, geniet zij van muziek en tuiniert en leest zij graag. En in tegenstelling tot veel van haar collega’s vindt zij fietsen dan weer niet zo leuk. Zij loopt liever dan dat zij fietst.

Op woensdagen is zij in de praktijk aanwezig.

Ondersteuner Jeugd en Gezin

Ieke Kater is vanuit het WIJ team als ondersteuner jeugd en gezin (OJG), verbonden aan huisartsenpraktijk Radesingel en huisartsenpraktijk Meerstad.

Ouders en jeugdigen, tot 18 jaar, kunnen bij haar terecht voor vragen over opgroeien, opvoeden en wanneer er zorgen zijn over de ontwikkeling.

Denk hierbij aan bijvoorbeeld angstklachten, hoog gevoeligheid of problemen bij moeilijke situaties, zoals scheiding, pesten of rouw.

Ieke biedt kortdurende begeleiding en indien nodig kan ze doorverwijzen naar specialistische hulp.

Wanneer ze met kinderen en jongeren werkt, gaat ze graag op zoek naar hun eigen mogelijkheden en kwaliteiten. Dit doet ze door middel van spelletjes en gesprekken maar, ook op creatief gebied zoekt ze graag aansluiting binnen de hulpvraag. Daarnaast werkt ze met diverse methodes en de daarbij passende werkboeken.

In haar vrije tijd is ze graag buiten met haar hond of rijd ze met haar paard.

Ik ben samen met mijn gezin woonachtig in het kleine gezellige dorpje Kolham. In juni ben ik afgestudeerd en ik kijk er ontzettend naar uit om mijn vak uit te voeren en met plezier naar het werk te gaan. 

In januari zal ik beginnen als doktersassistente bij huisartsenpraktijk Radesingel. Op de maandagen woensdagen en vrijdagen is het mogelijk dat u mij aan de telefoon krijgt of tegen zal komen tijdens spreekuren. 

Ik heb ontzettend veel zin in deze nieuwe uitdaging en hoop u zo goed mogelijk te kunnen helpen bij vragen en problemen.

She enjoys living in Haren with her family, but she was born and raised in Groningen. She knows the city very well! She certainly does not turn her hand to organizing a party or dinner, which combines well with each other.
